7 great reasons to Christmas shop in Harborne!

1. Grab a strong coffee to prepare for the Christmas shopping. Harborne has some great independent coffee shops like Boo Boo, or chains like Boston Tea Party (at The School Yard). It's an essential start to the task ahead!

2. Now you're full of caffeine, start off with decoration buying to help make any home look like a festive grotto. Cherry Tree Interiors (near to M&S Food Hall) has a room dedicated to Christmas and some beautiful unique decorations which we've never seen anywhere before. Also check out the quirky little Christmas penguins and reindeer at Joe Richards grocery.

3. Looking for a special gift? Forget pacing through crowded city shops or trawling the internet, head to Maddison who have a beautiful selection of unique and thoughtful gifts, as does Amelie. These shops are only about 150 metres apart so hardly a trek! If you're shopping on a budget then Home Bargains can't be beaten.

4. Shopping for an awkward friend and need something different to socks and wine? How about a yoga voucher from Barefoot Yoga Studio or a massage voucher from Salon Utopia? Alternatively, many Harborne restaurants sell vouchers which make great presents.

5. Travel and parking is a snip! There's plenty of parking near the High Street (behind Sainsburys and Home Bargains), or Waitrose and M&S have their own parking. There's a taxi rank on Albany Road (next to Zizzis) and Uber provides great coverage in Harborne. The area is serviced by various buses (22, 23, 24, 29 etc) or if you're feeling really energetic it's only 15 minute walk from University station.

6. It's friendly! Seriously, it's really friendly. It's got such a community village feel. People hold doors open and say 'sorry' when they accidentally bump into you. They talk to each other whilst queuing to pay. Even in bars people will generally ensure the person next to them is being served before ordering a drink (although not necessarily true just before last orders!).

7. Finish up with a meal and drink to reward yourself for getting the Christmas shopping done! Harborne is spoilt for choice for superb places to eat, and suitable for any budget. The Plough and Emporio Maria are great, but there's something for everyone. Sit back and relax with a vino or beer and feel smug at how well you've done.
